Antarctica - Just Incredible

Iwas fortunate enough to spend 10 days in Antarctic waters in January and it wasan incredible experience.  As we approached the Antarctic peninsula, thefirst large iceberg we passed was an exciting moment and just a tiny preview ofwhat we were about to experience.  For 10 days, we made about twozodiac trips per day either to land or to just cruise around icebergs, many with penguins and seals on them.   Needless to say, there wasnever a dull moment.  I came away with over 100 of the bestphotographs I have ever taken.  I guess if you put yourself in aspectacular location you can get a spectacular photograph.  When onland, with penguins walking everywhere around me, there was time to use a tripodbut while on the Zodiacs or on the ship, it was contant shooting asthe compositions and subjects would change too fast for using atripod.  It was just crazy shooting at times but so much fun as you knewyou were getting some amazing images. Iwas with the Cheeseman group on the MV Ortelius and I can't say enough aboutthe hard work that their photographic leader, Hugh Rose, and the others did forus.  The ship's staff and service was fantastic and I wouldn't hesitate togo again with them.  We made it all the way through the pack ice to southof the Antarctic Circle and back.  Their schedule of being down there for10 days instead of the 5 days the other groups are during the prime Januarytime made a huge difference.  I hope they do it again sometime as I nowunderstand the Antarctic addiction. Here are just a few of the images. The rest can be seen in the galleries.
